MADURAI: A combined annual training camp for about 700 National Cadet Corps that commenced at the MNUJN Higher Secondary School, Nagamalai Pudukottai, here on Friday, would end on January 2, 2011. According to a press release from camp commandant Lt. Col. S.S. Chauhan, cadets from various schools and colleges of Madurai, Theni and Virudhunagar districts coming under the jurisdiction of 7 (TN) BN NCC Madurai, 2 (TN) Med Coy NCC and 28 (TN) BN NCC Virudhunagar are participating. This camp is conducted to make the cadets become eligible for the certificate A, B and C being held in January to March 2011. The cadets are being given training in basic military training like weapons, map reading, drill, field craft and battle craft. A demonstration on fire fighting equipments is planned by the fire service officers.
