KOCHI: Council for Advancement of People's Action and Rural Technology (Capart), an autonomous body functioning under the aegis of the Ministry of Rural Development, has announced a programme for equipping voluntary organisations with competencies for scouting innovations. The selected voluntary organisations will be developed into innovation scouting centres where innovators will be encouraged to make new projects. There will be focus on traditional knowledge and efforts will be made for documentation, validation, patenting as well as upscaling of rural technologies and innovations. At least 10 organisations are to be selected across the country where facilities will be provided to develop competencies for taking over the role of scouting of innovations, innovators and traditional knowledge.
