Vignesh to clash with Madkekar

HYDERABAD: P.C. Vignesh of Andhra Pradesh set up a title clash with Aditya Madkekar of Maharashtra in the Vegesna Anata Koti Raju all-India ranking tennis tournament, organised by Cosmopolitan Club in Bhimavaram, on Saturday.

In the first semifinal, Vignesh outslugged Lakshit Sood of Uttar Pradesh 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3 while Madkekar cruised past Chandril Sood (Uttar Pradesh) 6-1, 6-2 in the other semifinal.

Men: P.C. Vignesh (AP) bt Lakshit Sood (UP) 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3; Aditya Madkekar (Mah) bt Chandril Sood (UP) 6-1, 6-2.

Women: Eetee Maheta (Guj) bt Ankita Bhatia (Dli) 7-5, 6-2; Dangwal Vaniya (Dli) bt Chilumula Nidhi (AP) 6-2, 6-3 .

Salil, Sathwika triumph

Salil Dandriyal and Sama Sathwika emerged champions in the under-10 category of the Ghaus Muhammad Khan Afridi memorial tennis tournament, organised by Sports Coaching Foundation (Masab Tank), here.

Virasath Rasool Khan, MLA, gave away the prizes.

The results (all finals):

Boys: Under-10: Salil Dandriyal bt Syed Hurr Ali 6-3; Under-8: Syed Hurr Ali bt Nihal 6-2.

Girls: Under-10: Sama Sathwika bt Syeda Shajiha Begum 6-1; Under-8: Bhakti Shah bt A. Sreeka 6-3 .

Ramu, Najeeb and Yousuf shine

Gouds XI's S.T. Ramu (107 not out) and Rushi Raj XI's F.A. Najeeb (105) and Salam Bin Yousuf (78 & eight for 36) stole the limelight in the A-division one-day league cricket championship here.

The scores:

A-division one-day league: Deccan Blues 191 (Meraj 45, Tulasi Reddy three for 23) lost to Gouds XI 192 for two (S.T. Ramu 107 n.o.).

Rushi Raj XI 260 (Salam Bin Yousuf 78, F.A. Najeeb 105, Ameen 35, Raju five for 70) bt Tarakarama 132 (Jayesh 36, Salam Bin Yousuf eight for 36).

Praneeth is skipper

Praneeth Reddy will lead Hyderabad in the South Zone under-14 cricket tournament to be played in Bangalore from December 30.

Two wins for Hyderabad

Hyderabad men recorded two wins, defeating Mahbubnagar 44-26 and getting the better of Karimnagar 35-18, in the Hyderabad State annual league kabaddi championship at Government Junior College (Kachiguda) here.
