NRI forum to hold mass wedding today

Staff Reporter

Kozhikode: The Vadakara NRI Forum will organise a mass wedding, its third such venture, at Payyoli in the district on Monday.

Twenty-five couples of different religions will get married at a specially arranged pavilion at the Payyoli High School Grounds from morning.

The forum is a collective of people hailing from Vadakara Parliament constituency and who are working in Abu Dhabi. It had organised similar programmes in the past two years.

This year's event will be inaugurated by former PWD minister M.K. Muneer. Swami Premananda from Sivagiri Math will lead the marriage ceremony for Hindu couples while Fr. Chandy Kurishumoottil and Panakkad Syed Munawarali Shihab Thangal will consecrate the marriages of the Christian and Muslim couples respectively.

Music programme

A felicitation meeting and a music programme will follow the ceremony at the venue. Socio-political leaders and relatives of the couple will attend the function. Playback singer V.T. Murali will lead the music event.
