VISAKHAPATNAM: Former chairman of Bar Council of India D.V. Subba Rao lauded MLB Trust for its work in women and child development and its pioneering approach. Participating in the valedictory of the silver jubilee of the trust at the public library here on Sunday, he said freedom fighters Mallemadugula Jaganndha Rao and Vijayalakshmi launched the trust in 1983 for needy women and children. He described the trust as synonymous with discipline. Bhagavatula Charitable Trust founder B. Parameswara Rao spoke about the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and the importance of gram swaraj. Recalling his association with the Mallemadugula family, he said it provided a platform for the creativity of children. Educationist D. Dakshmina Murthy recalled the succour provided to troubled women and children by the trust and gave a detailed account of its activities. MLB Trust secretary V.R. Mayadevi, president P. Jaganmohini and Mr. Subba Rao felicitated Gandhian Digumati Saraswati Devi, G. Rukminamma of Kasturba Gandhi Memorial Trust, regional vice-president of Sarvodaya Sangham G.S.N. Sarma and Gandhi Centre secretary K.S. Sastry to mark the silver jubilee of the trust. Managing trustee Vijaya Murthy and GVP MLB Trust School principal K. Madhuravani participated. Children presented cultural programmes.
