Karan Vasudeva triumphs

KOLKATA: Karan Vasudeva of the Delhi Golf Club emerged winner, beating Suraj Ali of the RCGC by 6 & 5 in the 36-holes match play of the Goodricke East India amateur golf tournament at the RCGC on Saturday.

Vasudeva could not produce many birdies. He had one on the 11th hole and a total of nine bogeys in 30 holes. Ali had two birdies on the second and the ninth and a total of 11 bogeys and two double bogeys.

Vasudeva won his second title within three weeks. He had defeated the local boy Sk. Pappu, Rohan Shroff and Col. Ajay Singh on the way to the final and held his nerve in the summit clash to win on the 31st hole of the 36-hole contest.

Ali was under pressure throughout and the support and expectation from local crowd brought about extra pressure on him. He simply cracked. By making the final of one of the toughest amateur meets in the country, he has amply proved his potential. — Special Correspondent
