Pukhraj puts Punjab on top

PALAKKAD: Riding on an unbeaten 165 by Pukhraj Singh, Punjab reached 349 for three at stumps on day one of the three-day match against Hyderabad in the Vijay Merchant Trophy (under-16) all-India cricket tournament here on Sunday.

At Perinthalmanna, Jharkhand was dismissed for 153 by Karnataka which was 82 for five in reply.

The scores: Punjab 349 for three in 92 overs (Pukhraj Singh (batting) 165, Shivam Bhambri 83, Anmolpreet Singh (batting) 59) vs. Hyderabad.

Jharkhand 153 in 56 overs (Monu Singh 49 not out, Pratik Ranjan 37, Sahil Saleem six for 60) vs. Karnataka 82 for five in 32 overs (Nischal (batting) 48, Monu Singh four for 22).
