Jayachandra Elaprolu was shot five times He appears to have been shot through the door: police Houston: A 22-year-old Indian student hailing from Andhra Pradesh was shot dead in Pasadena county of California on Christmas morning in a robbery at a gas station. Jayachandra Elaprolu, who worked as a part-time clerk at the convenience store attached to the gas station, was shot five times and found dead when the police arrived. The police said they were seeking at least two suspects, the Houston Chronicle reported. Ali Kahn, a manager at the station, said Mr. Elaprolu, who is studying computer science, had been working at the store for less than a month. CCTV footage The footage of the closed circuit TV obtained by the police showed a man in a ski mask entering the Conoco gas station around 2:20 a.m. (local time), before shooting the clerk and taking away the cash register. The police distributed the surveillance video to local media outlets in an attempt to find witnesses, the paper said. As the assailant confronted him, Elaprolu managed to get behind a door that led to a small office behind the counter, but he appeared to have been shot through the door, the police said. Besides the gunman, the police have named another person who was seen leaving the gas station seconds before the shooting incident. A woman who entered the store about a minute after the incident found the clerk hit by bullets and she called the police.— PTI Corrections and Clarifications
