‘There are doubts on issue of resignations and the V-C should come out with all the information' OUTA to extend cooperation to administration in conducting examinations as per schedule HYDERABAD: The Osmania University Teachers' Association (OUTA) will oppose any move by the government to appoint a non-academic as the Vice-Chancellor, as is being reported in a section of the media. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, B. Satyanarayana, president, P. Yadagiri Reddy, general secretary and other office-bearers of OUTA said that a non-academician was not acceptable to them as it was not only against the University Grants Commission (UGC) rules but would also vitiate the campus atmosphere provoking the agitated students. Though there is no official confirmation on such news, they wanted to convey the feelings of teachers and students to the government, if at all it was thinking on those lines. They also took strong objection to Vice-Chancellor T. Tirupati Rao staying away from the campus and functioning mostly from his residence in Tarnaka. “It is sending wrong signals to people outside and the V-C should function from his office to instil confidence among teachers, students and employees,” Prof. Satyanarayana said. Resignations With regard to the recent resignations of the Registrar and the OSD to the V-C, they said that an enquiry should be conducted into the circumstances in which they resigned. There are several doubts on the issue and the Vice-Chancellor should come out with all the information that led to their resignation. The OUTA has also appealed to the students to write the examinations as per schedule. Prof. Satyanarayana said that, as teachers, they were concerned about their students' future and advised them to treat academics and agitation differently. “The agitation should not hamper their academics and students should be careful about this,” he said. He said that OUTA will extend total cooperation to the administration in conducting the examinations as per schedule.
