Security tightened in State

Bangalore: Security in the State has been tightened following intelligence inputs from the Union Government reportedly suggesting of a terror attack in the run-up to the New Year celebrations.
Sources in the Government told The Hindu that a communication to put the police on alert was sent to the State by the Union Home Ministry about a week ago.
Director-G and I-GP, Ajai Kumar Singh, Additional D-GP (L and O) A.R. Infant chaired a meeting of senior police officials.
Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who chaired a high-level meeting here on Monday, told presspersons: “Security has been tightened in the State after a terror alert was sounded by Central Intelligence agencies.
“A high alert has been sounded, especially in coastal districts.”
