Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam chairing a Cabinet meeting in Puducherry on Wednesday. PUDUCHERRY: One of the major agendas for the Cabinet meeting convened on Wednesday was the government's proposal to float a chit fund by the Puducherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation. The proposal, which was in the offing for a long time, was listed on the agenda for the meeting, sources in the government told The Hindu. The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam, would also take up transfer of land to a few trusts for construction of schools and other purposes. Other issues in the agenda include naming of government high schools, leasing of temple land, privatisation of Seagulls at Mahe, bifurcation of food and drugs administration and matters related to Revenue and Disaster Management Department. Home Minister E. Valsaraj, Public Works Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan, Revenue Minister Malladi Krishna Rao, Social Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy, Public Health Minister A. Namassivayam and senior officials attended the meeting.
