Letters to the Editor
This refers to the article “Behind the new gold rush” (Dec. 29). The prophecy about the possible plummeting of gold prices is scary. It is more so because it is not time bound — one does not know when the bubble will burst. Indians consider gold their valued asset. So they will be the worst sufferers of the boom and bust fundamental of gold economy. Rahul Jaggi, Mysore The article reminded me of N.N. Taleb's book Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in the Markets and in Life. The belief that something will not happen has proved wrong umpteen number of times. I would like to thank the author of the article. It does require a fair amount of courage to say things that normally would be ridiculed by the so-called experts. T.S. Krishnamurthy, Secunderabad
