BANGALORE: S. Chikkarangappa scored a two over 74 for the day but it proved just enough to catapult him onto the top of the table in combined Category A and B on the penultimate day of the Toyota Eltios National junior final at the Eagleton Golf Resort near here on Wednesday. Chikkarangappa, better known as ‘Chikka' in the golfing circles with a total of 220 (75, 71, 74) in three rounds leads Rigel Fernandes by a shot. Rigel, the Florida based Indian playing in category B, enjoyed the overall lead over the last two days. Chikka the men's amateur champion in the country will hold a unique record if he manages to clinch the junior national final as well, on the morrow. The 14-year-old Rigel Fernandes could not keep up with the pace as in the first two days, carding eight bogies for the day for a six over 78 and a total of 221 (72, 71, 78) after 54 holes. Saqib Ahmad was third with total of 223 (74, 78, 71). Other leaders: Category C: Prakhar Asawa 215 (73, 74, 68); Piyush Sangwan 216 (72, 74, 70) and Karandeep Kochhar 235 (76, 80, 79). Girls: Category A & B: Aditi Ashok (73, 79) & Meher Atwal 152 (76, 76). Category C: Ankita Kedlaya 158 (81, 77) and Sehar Atwal 158 (78, 80); Category D boys & girls: Kshitij Kaul 160 (78, 82), Digraj Gill 167 (84, 83) Aadil Bedi 168 (85, 83) .
