unveiling plan:S.M.Veerappan, Deputy General Manager, Punjab National Bank, speaking at the Indian Medical Association meeting in Madurai on Tuesday. MADURAI: Punjab National Bank (PNB) will open three branches at Devakottai, Siruganur near Tiruchi and Karaikal before the end of March 2011 and five ATMs are to be opened in Madurai, said S.M.Veerappan, Deputy General Manager,Circle Head, PNB. Talking to the journalists here on Tuesday, Mr.Veerappan said that PNB gave emphasis on Agriculture and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He added that a Loan Syndication Cell had been started at Chennai where techno-economic viability studies were being conducted and 22 reports had already been prepared by the Tiruchi circle. Apart from giving Kisan Credit Cards up to Rs 20 lakh, PNB also had premium cards, he said. PNB's ATM could also be used for transfer of funds. Speaking earlier at the Doctor's Month celebration held at IMA Hall on Tuesday, he said that teachers and doctors were two most important members of the society and PNB had special schemes for them. He said that doctors would be sanctioned loans up to December 31 with complete waiver of upfront fee and documentation charges for the setting up of clinics and diagnostic centres. SMS alerts The DGM also spoke on the importance of having SMS alerts for transactions in credit cards. He opined that bank deposits have always been secure at the nationalised banks. K.S.Mayilvaganan, president, Indian Medical Association, and M.Amanullah, Faculty Secretary, TNSB, and many doctors from the city participated in the event. PNB has five branches in Madurai and has a total business of 4,50,000 crore, one hundred per cent centralised banking solution with 5,000 branches and 4,000 ATMs.
