VIJAYAWADA: Farmers of Krishna district would get Rs. 4,475 crore in 2011-2012 as agricultural loans through ‘Potential Linked Credit Plans'. Farmers' groups The relevant estimations have been prepared by the bank officials, according to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Executive Director Prakash Bakshi. Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday after inspecting the crops damaged by recent rains in Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts along with regional NABARD officials, he said that the loans for rabi crop would be sanctioned in full fledged manner and nearly 175 farmers' groups had been formed to extend the benefits to them. The bank officials visited the three districts on Tuesday and Wednesday, while West Godavari and East Godavari districts were visited earlier to asses the losses incurred by the farmers, he said. “The untimely rains affected mainly tenant farmers and the NABARD will assist them in the best possible manner. Farmers of Krishna district have been the most affected ones due to the recent rains,” he said. Insurance Mr. Bakshi said that the NABARD would try to modify the crop insurance norms for the benefit of the tenant farmers affected by the rains, and the money available with the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund would be utilised for them. Krishna district NABARD Assistant General Manager N. Madhumurthy, Prakasam AGM N.P Suresh, Chief General Manger P. Mohanaiah, Guntur AGM Nageswara Rao and others were present at the press conference.
