Thyagaraja aradhana from January 21

THANJAVUR: The annual aradhana of Sri Thyagaraja will be held from January 21- 25 at the saint's samadhi on the banks of Cauvery at Thiruvaiyaru in the district, said G. Rangaswamy Moopanar, president of the Sri Thyagabrahma Mahotsava Sabha, in Thiruviayaru on Wednesday.

Union Minister for Environment Jairam Ramesh will inaugurate the aradhana on January 21. Singing of Thyagaraja's Pancharathna Kritis in chorus by musicians will take place on January 24, the Pushya Bagula Panchami day, when the saint attained samadhi. Mr. Moopanar said Union Minister for Shipping G.K. Vasan will inaugurate a newly constructed house of Sri Thyagaraja on the Thirumanjana Veedhi in Thiruvaiyaru on January 21.
