First win for Pune FC
Margao: Pune FC defeated Salgaocar by a solitary goal to taste its first victory in the I-league at Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
Selwyn Fernandes scored the winner in the 33rd minute.
Salgaocar looked a different side after the change of ends. The attack looked more confident and kept the pressure on the rival defence. The Goan side had the best chance to equalise in the 53rd minute, but Gilbert Oliveira's shot from inside the box was blocked by a rival defender.
Pune FC, with this win, took its points tally to seven from six matches. Salgaocar, which suffered its second successive defeat, remained on 12 points from six matches. — PTI
