Bellary: Congress workers in Kudligi town have said that they fear that there would be attempts to replace the electronic voting machines (EVMs) that have been kept in the makeshift strong room of a school in Kudligi town. Since Wednesday, the Congress activists have been continuously patrolling the area surrounding the strong room. Police have tightened security there. Uday Jannu, Kudligi Block Congress president told The Hindu over phone that following rumours that there would be some attempts by vested interests to replace the EVMs, the Congress workers, including the husbands of women candidates and supporters of other candidates, did not want to take any chance and have decided to patrol the area until the counting of votes is completed on January 4. Congress expects to fair better than the ruling BJP in all the six ZP constituencies and also in taluk panchayats. Mr. Jannu said that a memorandum would also be submitted to the tahsildar about their fears regarding EVMs.
