41 nominations for by-election

Last date for withdrawal is January 3

PUDUKOTTAI: Forty-one nominations have been accepted by the election officials for the by-election to 21 posts in panchayat union, town panchayat and village panchayats.

A total of 42 nominations were received till Wednesday – the last date for filing of nominations. During the course of scrutiny on Thursday, one nomination filed for the post of village panchayat president for Pullan Viduthi in Tiruvarankulam panchayat union, was rejected, an official release here said.

A maximum of five nominations was received for the village panchayat president of Amaradakki village at Avudaiyarkovil. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 3. Only one candidate has filed nomination for the post of ward member at Tirumayam panchayat union. By-election would be held on January 10.
