TAKING NO CHANCE:Police officials conducting a drill at Pilloor dam. Coimbatore: The police on Wednesday conducted a drill at Pilloor dam in which the police, revenue, fire and rescue services and health services personnel took part. On instructions from Inspector-General of Police – West Zone P. Sivanandi and Deputy Inspector-General of Police – Coimbatore Range B. Bala Naga Devi, the drill was organised by the Superintendent of Police – Coimbatore Rural District, N. Kannan. The objective was to assess the reaction mode and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the agencies concerned and address the problematic areas. A threat to the dam structure was envisaged as an emergency situation. The anti-sabotage teams of the bomb detection and disposal squad of the police along with sniffer dogs conducted searches for explosives planted as part of an extremist act.
