Dharwad: The Rovers Basketball Club will host the three-day Rajeshwari Bellary Memorial State-Level Basketball Tournament here from January 6. Club secretary Srikant Kanchibail said that 10 basketball teams including the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Dharwad; Vivekananda Basketball Club, Mandya; Southern Blues, Bangalore; Kanaka Basketball Club, Kolar; Bellary Basketball Club; Belgaum Basketball Club; and host Rovers Club will fight it out for the top honours in the men's section. Women's teams Six school girls' teams from Bijapur, Belgaum, Davanagere, Kittur, Hubli and Dharwad will take part in the women's section, Mr. Kanchibail said in a release. Matches would be played on the knock-out-cum-league base under the floodlights of the basketball court opposite the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) Swimming Pool here. Boarding, lodging All outstation teams will be provided boarding and lodging free of cost. Deputy Commissioner Darpan Jain will distribute the prizes at the valedictory ceremony on January 9, he said.
