NEW DELHI: The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) with the support of IMG-Reliance announced cash awards to its leading players during the National basketball championship here on Sunday. Jagdeep Singh, Yadwinder Singh Trideep Rai and Vishesh Bhriguvanshi were selected among the men for ‘A' grade, and were awarded Rs.30,000 per month for a period of three months from October to December. The honour in the form of the honorarium went to Geetu Anna Joe, P. Anitha, Akanksha Singh and Prashanti Singh in the women's section. The token cheques were presented through the eminent former players of the game, Khushi Ram and Surendranath Kataria for the grade ‘A' players in the men's and women's sections respectively. The coaches Ram Kumar, Rajinder Singh, Satprakash Yadav, S. K. Bhaskar, Shiba Maggon and Abdul Hameed Khan and Prasanna Menon were also presented with cash honorariums, to the tune of Rs.30,000 per month. The grade ‘B' and grade ‘C' players were presented Rs.20,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively. — Special Correspondent
