KAKINADA: Department of Handlooms and Textiles arranged exhibition-cum-sale of handlooms at Pydah Chalamaiah Kalyana Mandapam on Devalayam Street on Monday. The 10-day exhibition titled ‘Cheneta Parimalalu' was inaugurated by district Collector M. Ravi Chandra. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the people to wear handlooms to encourage the weaving community. Assistant Director of the department K. Chandra Rao said that 25 stalls were arranged in the exhibition, in which weavers from East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasham districts displayed their works. “Sarees ranging from Rs. 250 to Rs. 5,000 are on display and we are expecting a sale of Rs. 40 lakh from this exhibition,” he said. One could visit the exhibition from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the entry is free.
