Aneesh shines

THRISSUR: A last-minute goal from K.P. Aneesh helped Kozhikode's Chandini FC defeat Thrissur's Sree Kerala Varma College 1-0 and enter the quarterfinals of the N.I. David Trophy 35th Kerala State inter-club football championship at the Corporation Stadium here on Monday.

Malabar United (Ernakulam) progressed to the last-eight stage on Sunday after edging out Pathanapuram's Travancore FC 2-1.

Sharathlal (36th) and Usman (65th) scored for Malabar while Ben Christian (42nd) netted TFC's consolation goal.

There will be no match on Tuesday. — Special Correspondent
