Four-wkt. win for State Bank of Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: State Bank of Hyderabad recorded a four-wicket win over Continental in the A-Division knock-out cricket tournament at Gymkhana Grounds here.

A-Division knock-out: Continental 216 for nine (Aneesh 34, Chaitanya Reddy 90,Vaibhav 30, Sashidhar 32) lost to SBH 221 for six (Daniel Manohar 76, B. Sumanth 40, Abhishek Ashok three for 38).

Syndicate Bank 158 (Raja 36, Irfan 31, Asad Ali four for 26) lost to Hyderabad Bottling 160 for nine (Lenin 41 not out, Prasad 31).

A-Division one-day league: AB Colony 143 (A. G. Praveen 58, S. V. Ramesh 35, Tulasi Reddy three for 42, S. T. Ramu four for 24) lost to Gouds XI 146 for two (L. Praveen Reddy 37, K. Srikanth 34,S. T. Ramu 44 not out).

SAAP coaching camp

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh will organise preparatory coaching camps in Hyderabad in different disciplines in which the State has qualified to represent in the Jharkhand National Games to be held from February 12.

This was stated by P. Malla Reddy, joint secretary of AP Olympic Association.

The camps will begin from January 20 and will be for a minimum of 14 days and a maximum of three weeks duration.

The selection of the teams/players for the Games will be done by a panel which includes representatives of the SAAP, APOA and the Association.

OU selections

Selection trials of Osmania University volleyball men's team will be held at Lal Bahadur Stadium on January 6 and 7.

Players should report to coach Narsingam Reddy at the venue by 6.30 a.m.

Also the OU selections to pick the taekwondo men's and women's teams will be held at OU Indoor stadium on January 5 at 10.00 a.m.

Kabaddi coaching

The OU kabaddi coaching camp for women will be held at University College for Women (Koti) from January 5 at 3.00 p.m.

VPSC beats Diechmann

Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council (VPSC) prevailed over Diechmann FC 1-0, through a 20th minute goal by Papa Rao in the district football super league at the AMC ground, Visakhapatnam, on Monday.

Attili Suribabu Memorial FC and Fort Union FC drew goalless in the first match of the day.

Earlier on Sunday, City Police beat Sabari Sporting 3-0 with Krishnam Raju scoring a brace (10th and 25th minutes). Kumar scored in the 29th minute.

Hat-trick completed

PREMA Aided School girls completed a hat-trick in the District Basketball Association's mobile inter-school tournament, while Delhi Public School (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) retained the boys' title on Monday.

PREMA beat Delhi Public School (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) 21-11 in the girls' final. Good fight was witnessed in the first quarter and with both teams going for defence, there was no score in the third quarter.

However, PREMA went all out in the final quarter and scored 12 points to DPS' five to win the title for the third year in a row.

The boys' final saw DPS (VSP) taking a good lead in the first quarter, but Navy Children fought back in the second.

In the third quarter, DPS regained the control and went onto win the match 25-15.

Big victory

Host Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University beat Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajahmundry 19-3 and Gujarat University pipped Saurashtra University 16-15 on the opening day of the South-West Zone inter-university kho-kho tournament for men at Dr. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam, on Monday.
