‘Weed out bogus ST certificates'

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: The Tudum Debba or Adivasi Hakkula Porata Samiti on Monday demanded weeding out of bogus ST certificates in Adilabad district obtained by members of Lambada community who have migrated from Maharashtra.

The organisation demanded stringent action against officials who issued such certificates after accepting bribes.

Migrants

Addressing a press conference, Tudum Debba honorary president Soyam Bapu Rao and other office-bearers said bogus certificates are being obtained by Lambadas from Maharashtra who migrated after the tribe was included in the ST list in 1976. Verification of ST certificates of the recently DSC selected candidates from Lambada community revealed that as many as 34 candidates had obtained bogus certificates.

Mr. Bapu Rao also demanded issue of ST certificates only to genuine applicants.
