Woman SHG honoured

PERAMBALUR: Collector M.Vijayakumar honoured the members of the Mariamman woman self help group in Olaipadi panchayat in Perambalur district at the public grievances day meeting here on Monday.

The group was one of the best women self help groups among the 10 SHGs in the State and got the State government's Manimekalai award with a cash award of Rs.1 lakh from the Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin in Chennai recently.

The Collector, who presided over the meeting, said training in garment making was provided to the members of the women SHGs last year and had completed the training in November last year. He had issued appointment orders for eight members of the SHGs in private firms.

Mr Vijayakumar also issued orders appointing Nallusamy as village administrative officer on compassionate grounds as his father Thangarasu who worked as village assistant in Kurumbalur village in Perambalur taluk died in harness.

Mr. Vijayakumar had received more than 300 petitions from the public at the meeting and most of them requested for transfer of pattas, education and marriage grant, old age pension.

The Collector assured petitioners that quick action would be taken on the petitions by the respective department officials within a fortnight.

Palanisamy, District Revenue Officer, Karuppiah, Special Deputy Collector (public grievances) and other officials attended the meeting.
