Man shot dead, 5 lakh looted

Chandigarh: A 35-year-old man was shot dead by two unidentified men and cash worth Rs. 5 lakh looted from the victim in Punjab's Zirakpur town, the police said on Monday.

Mahavir, a resident of Mohali, who worked as a cashier at a liquor store in Zirakpur near here, was going to the bank to deposit the cash when he was attacked by the masked miscreants, they said.

The victim was shot from close range when he tried to resist the robbery.
