“Karunanidhi must take steps to withdraw notification”
Special Correspondent
Jayalalithaa
Chennai: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Jayalalithaa on Monday asked Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to request the Centre to withdraw the notification on common entrance test for admission to medical courses.
In a statement, she said the Medical Council of India had changed rules that students aspiring to pursue MBBS would have to clear a national-level common entrance test and had also notified it in the gazette. It has also announced that CET would be required for admission to PG medical courses as well.
Stating that she had urged Mr. Karunanidhi to intervene in the issue last month itself, Ms. Jayalalithaa said he had failed in his duty which would endanger the reservation system in the State. “Karunanidhi should take steps to withdraw the notification or he should take responsibility and resign from the Chief Minister's post,” she said.
