“IIM-T will provide education relevant to India' s needs”

R. Krishnamoorthy

TIRUCHI: The Indian Institute of Management – Tiruchi (IIM-T) would provide education relevant to India's needs.

“It is not our intention to be a replica of other IIMs,” M. Damodaran, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM-T said on Monday.

“As we get along, we may choose new specialisations,” Mr. Damodaran told ‘ T heHindu'. The IIM-T will commence its activities with an executive development programme for 60 persons at the temporary campus on the premises of National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi (NIT-T). Six large-size rooms have been provided and the NIT-T is prepared to provide more buildings based on our need.

Mr. Damodaran sounded upbeat about the prospects of IIM-T referring to the constitution of a strong Board. The process of getting the right kind of faculty was on. “Coaching for the first batch will create the right reputation. If they get good jobs, their successors would,” he said, adding that a decision will be taken during June-July on the number of students to be admitted for the flagship programme based on CAT scores.
