‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf' defamation case hearing on January 17

Muzaffarnagar: A local court has fixed January 17 as the next date for the hearing of a defamation case against reality TV show ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf' and its host Rakhi Sawant.

Petitioner Narendra Singh had filed a case in the court claiming that his wife was wrongly presented as married to another man in one of the episodes. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Jyotsna Singh has reserved the order to issue notices against the accused, Sawant, the Imagine show bosses and Dev Bhardwaj, the man shown as Sunita Singh's husband, till January 17.

Ten witnesses have been examined in support of the case in the court, according to sources. In his complaint, Narendra has claimed that he has been married to Sunita since August 2003 and the man shown in the episode is not her husband, according to his lawyer Hari Om Goyal.

Narendra had filed charges of defamation, obscenity and indecent representation of a woman, among others. - PTI
