AP man becomes ATC commandant

HYDERABAD: Lieutenant General Surendranath, an alumnus of Sainik School, Korukonda, and belonging to Andhra Pradesh, took over as commandant of the Army Training Command in Shimla on January 1. He is the first GOC-in-C belonging to AP to have taken as over the command.

Distinguished service

Earlier, he commanded a corps in the Western Sector. In his 37 years of meritorious and distinguished service, he had varied operational experiences and held several prestigious command, staff and instructional appointments. He also represented the country in the United Nations mission and in the UN headquarters.
