National fencing from today

HYDERABAD: The 21st senior National fencing championship will be held at the Fateh Maidan Indoor Stadium here from January 6 to 11.

N.V.S.N. Mohan Rao, chairman of the organising committee, said 32 men's and 25 women's teams will be seen in action in three different categories — epee, foil and sabre.

Manipur men and Tamil Nadu girls topped the medals tally in the last edition.

The Andhra Pradesh fencers too opened their account with three silver in that edition.

Inter-school football

The eighth Sachdev Sports Cup inter-school football tournament will be organised by Shastri Soccer Club at Trimulgherry Village grounds here from January 11.

Teja slams century

Surya Teja (106) helped Crown CC record a three-wicket win over State Bank of India in the A-division league cricket championship here.

The scores:

A-division league: P&T Colony 183 (Tanmay Agarwal 68, Y. Harish 35, Sheik Mohammed three for 34, Mirza Maqbool Baig four for 36) lost to CCOB 184 for eight (Sk. Md Murtuza 51, S. Hussian 34 n.o., Hemanth five for 39).

Sultan Shahi 278 for seven (Sathya 32, Rahul 40, Satyapal 50, Mahesh 75) bt SA Sports 132 (Ramesh 43, Irfan six for seven).

SBI 195 (Suresh 45, G.N. Srinivas 55, Iftekaruddin 43 n.o.) lost to Crown 196 for seven (Surya Teja 106, Yesudas 37, Abrar Ahmed four for 40).

Match drawn

TG Venkatesh XI and AGORC drew 1-1 in their A-division Rahim league football championship at Gymkhana Grounds here.

Afroze scored in the fifth minute for Venkatesh XI before David netted the equaliser within seven minutes for AGORC.

Thursday is a rest day.
