Plea to retain payslip system

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A group of employees' organisations of the Accountant-General's office has protested against a recommendation of the Ninth Pay Commission to do away with the payslip system of gazetted officers in the State government service.

In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, the Accounts and Audit Officers Association, Subordinate Audit Service Association and the AG's Office Employees Union said the commission's findings—that the payslip system was being continued for some vague reasons—was unfounded.

The service conditions of gazetted officers in the State service were being handled by the Accountant-General's office in all States.
