VELLORE: The VIT University Chancellor, G. Viswanathan, has appealed to girl students to render service to the society by joining the Red Cross movement. Participating in the 90th anniversary celebrations of the starting of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), organised jointly by the IRCS Vellore District Branch and Katpadi Sub Branch at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) in Katpadi on Thursday, Mr. Viswanathan said that the students should develop a service mentality. N. Geetha, Revenue Divisional Officer and president of the Katpadi sub-branch of the IRCS district branch presided. V. Radhakrishnan, Chief Educational Officer, Vellore, distributed prizes to the students. T.M. Vijayaraghavalu, vice-president of the IRCS district branch; T.V. Sivasubramaniam, vice-president of the Katpadi sub-branch; M. Ananda Naidu, Headmaster, GGHSS, Katpadi; R. Chandrasekaran, vice-president of the IRCS district branch spoke.
