Kozhikode: Hospitals in the district have been declared plastic-waste-free as part of the ongoing drive to make the district free from plastic waste - Mass Action for a Plastic-waste-free Kozhikode (MAP). At a function at the Institute of Maternal and Child Health (IMCH) at Government Medical College Hospital here on Friday, District Medical Officer P.V. Krishnan declared all government hospitals, including primary health centres and taluk hospitals, in the district free of plastic waste. Corporation health standing committee chairperson Janamma Kunjunni read out the oath against plastic waste to the gathering. Ms. Kunjunni said sincere efforts would be taken to make the 75 wards of the corporation free from plastic waste as early as possible. Director of the Malabar Institute of Medical Science Mohana Krishnan declared all private hospitals in the district free of plastic waste. Collector P.B. Salim inaugurated the function. Medical college superintendent V.R. Rajendran and Principal C. Ravindran spoke.
