Protest against attack on pastor
Staff Correspondent
DAVANGERE: Some organisations have decided to take out a procession here on January 12 against the attack on Pastor Samuel Isaac a few days ago. They will also urge the police to take action to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
Working president of the Davangere unit of the JD(S) B.M. Sathish, Pastor Rajashekar, Anish Pasha and Chandrashekar Thoranagal told presspersons that organisations such as the Komu Souharda Vedike, the CPI, the CPI(M), the Davangere Christians' Association, and the Tanjimul Islamia had decided to take out a procession condemning the incident. Activists of these organisations would form a human chain at Gandhi Circle before going to the Deputy Commissioner's office to submit a memorandum.
Mr. Rajashekar and Mr. Sathish said that if activists of Hindutva organisations found anyone luring people to Christianity or engaged in forcible conversion, they could approach the police. But no one had the right to take the law into their own hands, they said. They also criticised the doctors at the hospital where the pastor had been admitted for having discharged him the same day even though they had insisted that he be kept in the hospital till the injuries healed.
