dated January 08, 1961: Liberation of Goa

The 66th session of the Indian National Congress concluded in Sardarnagar on January 7 after adopting all official resolutions. Mr. Morarji Desai, who moved the Foreign Policy resolutions, told members, who had been vehement in their language and wanted time limits to be fixed for the liberation of Goa and the vacation of Chinese aggression, “When you are strong, you only require mild language.” Moving the resolution on the international situation and the Sino-Indian frontier, Mr. Morarji Desai, Union Finance Minister, referred to the worsening of the international situation with particular reference to Laos and the Congo, and said that unless the Big Powers gave up the policy of interference in the affairs of other countries the world was in for a terrible war. The situation in Laos was dangerous.
