VIJAYAWADA: A 42-year-old woman who was attacked by her husband at Machavaram on Friday sustained serious injuries on her right hand and right leg, but was stated to be out of danger. The police said Paluguri Rambabu, 49, was a painter by profession who had been an alcoholic for long. Allegedly he suspected the fidelity of his wife Lakshmi Bhavani, 42, to whom he was married for 25 years. Lakshmi Bhavani was eking out a livelihood by selling snacks in Machavaram with the help of her three children. Rambabu had entered into an argument with her a couple of years ago and left for his parents' home at Gollagudem near Kankipadu only to return about 10 days ago. After his return, he continued to have many arguments with her. On Friday he attacked his wife when she was cleaning utensils. The neighbours called 108 and overpowered Rambabu. The victim was admitted into the Government General Hospital. The police took Rambabu into custody.
