A challenging task for the police

Special Correspondent

VISKAHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam rural police are a burdened lot now with the ‘Odarpu Yatra' of former Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy as they have to give protection to VVIPs moving along with him in the rural and agency areas.

While the entire yatra was taking place in the rural areas till Saturday, it would resume on January 13 from the same area with Mr. Jagan continuing consoling of families after a break for visit to New Delhi to agitate for the rightful share of Krishna waters.

Narsipatnam Deputy Superintendent of Police Dusi Narasimha Kishore told The Hindu that the yatra was ending on Saturday, but they were preparing for the second phase also despite festive season and uncertainties due to the current political situation, if Mr. Jagan resumed his yatra on January 13 as announced through the media.

The rural police would be the most troubled lot as they have to forego Sankranti festivities.
