150 Bangalore Metro personnel complete training in Delhi

NEW DELHI: More than 150 personnel of the Bangalore Metro have undergone training at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's training school as part of the preparations by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to start its operations.

The DMRC said on Sunday that a total of 153 young professionals, including station controllers, train operators, section engineers, junior engineers and maintainers, underwent training in custom-made training modules. The modules included sessions on train/ station operation, signalling, telecommunication, automatic fare collection, gate operation and rolling stock maintenance.

The trainees were presented certificates for completion of training with DMRC by Delhi Metro's Director (Operations) Raj Kumar at a function held at DMRC's training school at Shastri Park Depot.

The training session of these professionals had begun with a batch of 82 station controllers/ train operators in August last year. The DMRC had also imparted training to some BMRCL engineers in 2008. Executives from Mumbai Metro Rail and Jaipur Metro have also taken training at the Shastri Park Training Institute, which is the only one of its kind in the country.

The nodal agency for all Metro systems across India, only Delhi Metro has a specialised training institute – that too with ISO 9001-2008 certification -- for imparting training on Metro technology.

It has specialised faculties for subjects such as Telecommunication, Signalling, Train Operation, Track Engineering, Automatic Fare Collection, Emergency Services and Emergency Communication, Disaster Management, Communication within Metro train, Rolling Stock, Station Design and Layout, Security and Safety system, Property Development around the station areas and Fire detection and suppression systems.
