Four persons arrested for stealing vehicles

Huge haul: Stolen vehicles seized by Karaikal police on Monday .
KARAIKAL: Four persons were arrested and several stolen vehicles were seized by special squads of the Karaikal police here on Monday.
A Toyota Qualis was intercepted here on suspicion and its four travellers on interrogation were found to be engaged in the sale of vehicles stolen from various places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The accused Syed Ukka Umar alias Sella, Dinesh, Ismail, and Shah Nawaz were all allegedly involved in the sale of stolen four-wheelers and two-wheelers in Karaikal. The accused were said to be operating with the support of Hakim in Coimbatore, Siva in Chennai and Ahmad in Sirkazhi.
Earlier, based on suspicions of illegal movement of several unregistered and fake-registered vehicles in Karaikal, special squads were formed under the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police and under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police.
The Senior Superintendent of Police Srikant, said that in the last few months several vehicles went missing and there was also a spurt in the movement of vehicles with fake documents.
