Wanted car thieves held

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Four persons have been arrested by the South-East Delhi Police for alleged involvement in several cases of auto-theft and car jacking in the Capital and its neighbourhood.

Two stolen cars and two motorcycles have allegedly been seized. One of the accused, Jagdish Meena alias Chottu, is also wanted in connection with the murder of a sales officer and abduction and rape in Rajasthan.

A police team carrying out routine vehicle check on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road on January 7 evening signalled a Hyundai Verna car coming from Pul Prahladpur to stop at which the driver, later identified as Subhash Kumar, got down from the vehicle and tried to flee. He was arrested and purportedly confessed to having stolen the car from Roop Nagar along with Jagdish and Banwari.

Further interrogation revealed that Subhash was involved in several cases of auto-theft along with Jagdish, Banwari and Kahlil. The three were later arrested at his instance.
