‘Bid to shield culprits' in 2 G scam flayed
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The All India Students' Association burnt an effigy of Union Communications Technology Minister Kapil Sibal at Delhi University's North Campus on Tuesday in protest against his “attempts to shield the culprits of the multi-crore 2G spectrum scam”.
It also launched its national campaign against “corruption and State repression” which will continue till January 19 with different programmes planned at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Indian Institute of Mass Communication and DU.
The AISA accused the United Progressive Alliance Government of being on the back-foot owing to the unearthing of the scam. The students' association criticised Mr. Sibal's attitude towards the scam and his seeking to downplay the losses experienced by the exchequer. The organisation said it “opposes such moves by Mr. Sibal to shield a scamming minister… through fabricated facts.”
