City level coordination committee revived with GHMC Commissioner as head Top civic officials to tour every Wednesday morning to sort inter-departmental issues
At last:An overview of the Lakdikapul bridge which is slated for expansion. HYDERABAD: The much awaited work on expanding the Lakidikapul Bridge could begin soon with the government likely to issue orders releasing the necessary funds to the South Central Railway (SCR) for building it. SCR design for the bridge has been finalised and an amount of little more than Rs. 9 crore rupees will be handed over for the work. In the meantime, GHMC will also be releasing money to the Water Board for shift of a pipeline, for 1,600 sq.yards land of Intelligence Department and for acquiring properties on other side of the bridge. Design issue Talking to presspersons on Wednesday after the first inspection by the newly formed city level coordination committee to expedite the 100-days action plan as well as to solve inter-departmental issues on civic works, GHMC Additional Commissioners K. Dhananjaya Reddy (Dev.Planning) and S. Subba Rao (Works) said the delay in the project was because of the time taken for design approval. Areas visited The coordination committee is headed by GHMC Commissioner Sameer Sharma and has heads of all civic departments like HMWSSB, CPDCL, APTransco, R&B, NHAI, Traffic Police, HMDA and APSRTC and Mr. Reddy is the Convenor. Every Wednesday morning they are to inspect different areas for better coordination of respective local works. Today, they visited Lakidikapul, Punjagutta and KCP junctions to review the works to be taken up to provide more carriageway to the traffic by translocating trees and poles. Shifting of poles It was decided that the CPDCL/APTransco begin shift of poles on widened sections without waiting for payments from the municipal corporation but based on written guarantees. Funds will also be provided to HMWSSB to take up table drains at KCP junction and Model House to prevent water stagnation. Hotel Ayodhya to Nirankari Bhavan road will be developed with footpaths now that a new water pipeline has been activated. NHAI had also agreed to allow junction improvements at Tadbund, Bahadurpura, City College, Raidurg, etc., while R&B is to do the Narsapur crossroads. The entire road stretch under the PVNR Expressway is to be recarpetted with the R&B to take up the Rethibowli to Aramghar stretch aided by the Rs.6 crore released by HMDA. 1,000 bus shelters One thousand bus shelters are to be built in the Fund Your City (FYC) mode with locations to be decided by RTC, Traffic Police and GHMC, they added.
