Big field for Chennai Open

Chennai: The Chennai International Open chess tournament, sponsored by India Cements, will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here from January 17 to 26 featuring 25 Grandmasters and a large number of International Masters from India and abroad.

GMs taking part in the competition: Areschenko Alexander, Kuzubov Yuiry, Zherebukh Yaroslav, Kravtsiv Martyin, Oleksienko Mikhailom (all Ukraine), Ni Hua (China), Abhijeet Gupta, S.P. Sethuraman, B. Adhiban, Abhijeet Kunte, Arun Prasad, Neelotpal Das, Deepan Chakravarthy, R.R. Laxman, S. Kidambi, (all India), Chernyshov Konstantin, Bykhovsky Avigdor (both Russia), Stefansson Hannes, Danielson Henrik (both Iceland), Greenfeld Alon (Israel), Zia-ur-Rehman, Murshed Niaz (both Bangladesh), Dzhumaev Marat (Uzbekistan), Babujian Levon (Armenia), WGM Mary Ann Gomes .
