COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Local Planning Authority (LPA) has embarked on a drive to recover the infrastructure and amenities charges that have not been paid so far.
An official of the LPA here told The Hindu that nearly Rs. 11.5 crore was the payment pending towards infrastructure and amenities charges in Coimbatore.
The LPA had issued 19 notices and one of the applicants had paid the charges.
The applicants for the plan approval were given a month's time after issuing the notices to pay the amount.
The building was sealed after that if the promoter failed to pay the amount.
Last week, the LPA officials sealed a residential project under construction in the city and later removed the seal as the promoter paid Rs. 10 lakh that was pending towards the infrastructure charges.
On Thursday, the officials sealed a 913 sq.mt industrial building at Sulur as Rs. 3.42 lakh was pending payment towards infrastructure charges.
The planning permission for the building was also cancelled. The seal would be removed after the applicant paid the charges, the official said. He urged the applicants to come forward and pay the pending amount to avoid action on the building.
