Arjun-Rakshay duo triumphs
CHANDIGARH: Arjun Kadhe and Rakshay Thakkar won the boys doubles title in the ITF juniors grade III tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex, here on Friday.
The Indian challenge in singles ended as Prarthana Thombare lost to Donna Vekic of Croatia in a match in which the Indian managed to win a mere five games.
The results: Boys: Semifinals: Temur Ismailov (Uzb) bt Joshua Ward-Hibbert (GBR) 4-6, 6-1, 6-4; Enzo Couacaud (Fra) bt Maciej Romanowicz (Pol) 6-1, 6-0.
Doubles: Final: Arjun Kadhe/ Rakshay Thakkar bt Yash Deshpande/ Rishabdev Raman 6-1, 6-3.
Girls: Semifinals: Donna Vekic (Cro) bt Prarthana Thombare 6-1, 6-4; Basak Eraydin (Tur) bt Elizaveta Kulichkova (Rus) 6-3, 6-3.
Doubles: Final: Anastasiya Prenko (Tkm)/ Anna Tyulpa (Rus) w/o Oleksandra Korashvili (Ukr)/ Donna Vekic (Cro) .
