Bangalore: National United Cricket Club thumped St. Joseph's College by 417 runs in a KSCA Sri. J.B. Mallaradhya Trophy cricket match for Group I, Division V, here recently. Sri Karthik, Manjesh, and Nandeesh all helped themselves to centuries as National United rattled up 479 runs in the allotted 50 overs. Sharath then wreaked havoc with the ball, returning figures of six for 30, as St. Joseph's College was dismissed for a paltry 62. The scores: Zodiac CC 158 in 43.4 overs (Venkatesh 32, Bhanu Prakash 26, Nithin four for 50, Vishal three for 18) bt Bangalore Dynamos SC 129 in 28.5 overs (Christopher 30, Mayur 28, Nikhil 25, Sudheer five for 26, Shashi four for 44). Magadi CC 205 in 39.1 overs (J. Ajit 50, P.C. Venkatesh 36, Kiran 27, Ramchandra three for 48) lost to Govt. RC College 209 for eight in 36.3 overs (L. Naveen 80 n.o., L. Harish 27, P.C. Coles CC 101 in 29.5 overs (Sagar seven for 20) lost to Elite Blues CC 102 for two in 12.2 overs (Hariprasad 47 n.o.). Caravan Cricketers 105 in 35.1 overs (S. Vijay-Mithun final Vijay Sundar Prashant and Mithun Murali, both from Tamil Nadu, justified their seedings and will cross swords for the men's singles title in the Rs. 3.5 lakh Enerzal Open senior National ranking tennis tournament. At the Tennis Excellence courts here on Friday, the top seed Vijay ended the winning streak of former Davis Cupper Vijay Kannan 6-1, 6-4, while Mithun was taken the distance by seventh seed Vinod Sridhar before prevailing in three hard-fought sets 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(5). Singh all netted braces as Army Red posted a resounding 7-0 win over MEG here on Friday to remain on top of the Ozonegroup State Super Division hockey league table. C.S. Xalco also got on to the scoresheet as MEG's winless campaign continued. IOCL, meanwhile, remained in second place, albeit only on goal difference, after defeating ASC 8-0. Inderjit Chadha scored a hat-trick for the oil men while V.R. Raghunath maintained his goal glut with a double. Catholic Club lost the opening snooker game but bounced back through Karl Alphonso and Eugene to win the billiards event and the second snooker game to clinch a 2-1 win over Indiranagar Club and enter the quarterfinals of the Shri Gopal N.
