Crucial points: Minister for Water Resources KOLLAM: The two-day State delegates' conference of the Sunni Students Federation (SSF), which concluded here on Sunday, called upon the Central and State governments to release those falsely implicated and jailed in connection with various bomb blast cases in the country. In a resolution adopted at the conference, it was stated that such a plea was being made on the basis of the recent findings that the blasts at Malegaon, Mecca Masjid and other areas in the country was the work of anti-national forces. Those incarcerated should be adequately compensated for the mental and physical torture undergone. All blast cases should be investigated afresh to ensure that no innocent person suffered, it said. The conference protested against the hike in the price of petrol. It would make life for the common man more miserable. By increasing the price of petrol by Rs.5 in a month is a challenge to the masses, it noted. The SSF declared support for all the steps taken by the Kerala Jam-Iyyathul Ulema for the unity of Sunnis. Minister for Water Resources, N.K. Premachandran inaugurated the valedictory meet at the Press Club Maidan here. The conference elected N.M. Swadiqque Sakhafi Perinthatiri as president and K. Abdul Kalam Mavoor as general secretary of SSF. The other office-bearers are V. Abdul Jaeel Sahafi Kadalundi, treasurer; N.V. Abdul Razak Sakhafi, vice-president; and V.P.M. Ishaaq, joint secretary.
